The Seppo Säynäjäkangas Science Foundation has announced three new research grants to support studies in the fields of technology and electronics.
The grant recipients are:
- Marko Pakaslahti at Oulu University for a research study titled “A Pulse Width-Controlled CMOS Laser Diode Pulser and a Time-Gated Time-Resolved SPAD Array Transceiver Chip for Diffuse Optics.” In this study, Pakaslahti develops an optical imaging system that paves the way for other time-domain based systems in the medical and healthcare systems, including blood oxygen measurements in muscles and brain during exercise.
- Miika Köykkä from Jyväskylä University for a thesis study in which he develops a technical assessment of biathlon shooting and studies the relationship of the rifle movement measured by a 3-axis accelerometer and performance related factors.
- Jere Rusanen from Oulu University for studies on studies on integrated millimetre wave in 5G power amplifier architectures.
Founded in 1992, the Seppo Säynäjäkangas Science Foundation aims to promote internationally research and researchers based in Northern Finland, and to raise the national level of scientific studies in the fields of technology and electronics. The results of these studies may benefit also Polar R&D in further developments.
