Music and and running goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Good running songs can help your pacing, get your blood pumping, and boost your mood and performance. During a marathon, a playlist or your favorite song can be all the help you need to reach the finish line.
Polar is an official partner of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, which takes on places on the third Sunday of October. This year, we asked participants to submit the songs that will give them the extra boost they need to complete the last miles of the marathon. As they reach 37.5km, our DJ will play their favorite songs as the head towards the Olympic Stadium and the finish line.
Does the playlist include Eye of he Tiger by Survivor? You bet! Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run? Of course. Europe’s The Final Countdown? Obviously!
Unsurprisingly, Eye of the Tiger was the most requested song. After all, TimeOut magazine selected this anthem from the 1980s as the best running song.
Besides those classic running songs, runners have chosen some new favorites like Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles, The Weeknd’s Take My Breath, and Dua Lipa. The playlist is so diverse that includes songs from several countries and a multitude of genres – everybody will find their own favorite.
